ST Michael’s Pre-School in Lyme Regis has re-opened after finding a new leader.
The pre-school has been closed since March after the previous leader left but has now opened for the new term following the appointment of Mandy Brewster.
Mandy formally worked as a teaching assistant at St Michael’s Primary School and as a play activity worker for Lyme Regis Children’s Centre, where the pre-school is based.
She and her team have worked hard over the summer to create an “improved and stimulating learning environment for the children’s first steps into school life”.
The pre-school now includes several special areas, including a much-improved outside learning space with a construction area where the children are able to build things, reading garden, fairy garden, water play and mud kitchen.
The pre-school works closely with the reception class at St Michael’s Primary and ties in with the school’s curriculum by taking on a different theme each term – this term’s being all about space.
Mandy said the pre-school team have also received a huge amount of support for the Children’s Centre.
She added: “We try to create a warm and nourishing environment for the children to play it. It’s just brilliant to see them go home with a smile on their face.”
Numbers at the pre-school are increasing but there are still spaces left for children aged from two years and nine months. Parents are welcome to arrange a visit by calling the school office on 01297 442623.
